Mannen op boten

Men on boats is an autofiction collage where we see young men wandering between mourning, boredom and existential drift. Different stories - a father and a son who find a dead body, friends who are scattering ashes from a dead friend, a filmmaker who interrupts his own film,... - flow into each other without explanation.

By using 8mm, digital and found footage images the film creates a fragmented portret of friendship, loss and what it means to be man. The film moves between silence and loudness, between playfulness and dread, and searches for meaning in a world where there is no coherence.
